5G, You can hear this term thrown a lot recently by the manufacturers and other tech giants in the mobile space. What is 5G? How is it different from the current network of 4G and 3G? Let’s dive into this topic about what is it and how it is the future of connecting people and devices to the internet. To simply put 5G is the 5th Generation of mobile network that utilizes the existing radio technology and upgrading and improving the current 4G LTE network in increasing both speed and reliability without compromising on downtime and range. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G is specially designed to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, low latency.

Connectivity

5G speeds will vary between locations, countries, carriers, and devices, but on the whole, the average internet speed you can expect should be much greater than what’s currently offered on 4G. The networks are expected to supercharge Internet of Things technology, providing the infrastructure needed to carry huge amounts of data that will enable a smarter and more connected world. Quite literally, info from tons of sensors could tell operators what’s happening in your home, town, or even city in real-time. 5G can work alongside existing 3G and 4G technology to provide speedier connections that stay online no matter where you are.

OFDM principle

According to Qualcomm one of the leading chip manufacturers, 5G is based on OFDM (Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing), a method of modulating a digital signal across several different channels to reduce interference. 5G uses a 5G NR air interface alongside OFDM principles. 5G also uses wider bandwidth technologies such as sub-6 GHz and mm-Wave. Like 4G LTE, 5G OFDM operates based on the same mobile networking principles. However, the new 5G NR air interface can further enhance OFDM to deliver a much higher degree of flexibility and scalability. This could provide more 5G access to more people and things for a variety of different use cases.

What are the differences between the previous generations of mobile networks and 5G?

5G will bring wider bandwidths by expanding the usage of spectrum resources, from sub-3 GHz used in 4G to 100 GHz and beyond. 5G can operate in both lower bands (e.g., sub-6 GHz) as well as mm-Wave (e.g., 24 GHz and up), which will bring extreme capacity, multi-Gbps throughput, and low latency. 5G is designed to not only deliver faster, better mobile broadband services compared to 4G LTE, but can also expand into new service areas such as mission-critical communications and connecting the massive IoT.

5G Applications

This is enabled by many new 5G NR air interface design techniques, such as a new self-contained TDD subframe design. 5G is designed to do a variety of things that can transform our lives, including giving us faster download speeds, low latency, and more capacity and connectivity for billions of devices—especially in the areas of virtual reality (VR), the IoT, and artificial intelligence (AI). For example, with 5G, you can access new and improved experiences including near-instant access to cloud services, multiplayer cloud gaming, shopping with augmented reality, and real-time video translation and collaboration, and more.

5G network in some cities.

5G has been deployed in 60+ countries and counting. We are seeing much faster rollout and adoption compared with 4G. Consumers are very excited about the high speeds and low latencies. But 5G goes beyond these benefits by also providing the capability for mission-critical services, enhanced mobile broadband, and massive IoT. While it is hard to predict when everyone will have access to 5G, we are seeing great momentum of 5G launches in its first year and we expect more countries to launch their 5G networks. India also gave permission to some big telecom operators like Airtel and Jio to test their 5G network in some cities before rolling it out to the masses.

No scientific evidence of any risks.

To use 5G we will need to get a new smartphone that supports 5G if we want to be able to use the network as existing smartphones don’t contain antenna bands required to pull the new network signal. Although some concerns have been voiced about the tech by anti-5G campaigners, particularly with regards to radiation, research shows there’s no scientific evidence of any risks.

  3. Something more important is that when searching for a good on-line electronics retail outlet, look for web shops that are continuously updated, preserving up-to-date with the most recent products, the top deals, plus helpful information on product or service. This will ensure that you are handling a shop that really stays ahead of the competition and provide you things to make educated, well-informed electronics acquisitions. Thanks for the essential tips I have really learned through your blog.

  8. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any methods to help prevent content from being stolen? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
